Myth: “Special” Diets Can Reverse Coronary Heart Disease


Nissen and Gillinov say: "Whether low fat or low carb, extreme diets aren’t the answer to making artery-blocking plaques melt away. Heart patients who place complete trust in fad diets will discard scientifically proven life-saving therapies."
Everyday Health says: While you shouldn’t rely solely on diet to keep your heart strong, maintaining a heart-healthy diet rich in monounsaturated fats (found in foods like olive oil, canola oil, avocados, and almonds) is essential.
