A new treatment would reduce lung cancer in 80% of patients

A study presented by researchers from the Spanish Lung Cancer Group (GECP) at the World Lung Cancer Congress held in Barcelona, Spain, between September 7 and 10, reveals a new treatment that allows reducing lung cancer and prevents relapse in 80% of cases, according to RTVE, based on a statement from the EFE agency.

This treatment is based on chemotherapy and immunotherapy and is highly effective in patients in an intermediate state of cancer.

Mariano Provencio, president of the GECP and head of oncology at the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Madrid, told EFE: “It is a breakthrough and a very spectacular situation. Never before has something like this been seen. ” He explained that 80% of the patients analyzed were at least in the following 18 months, disease-free condition thanks to this treatment.
